Thai Tea, popular on the streets of Bangkok either hot or iced like I'll be making today. Obviously the best tea to use for this recipe would be Thai tea but if you don't have any then any black tea can be substituted.
Ingredients:
4 cups water
4 tea bags
150g sugar
2 star anise
3 cardamom pods
2 cloves
1 cup whole milk (or cream or condensed milk)
Ice
Nice easy recipe for this one! Boil the water and pour over the tea bags, sugar, star anise, cardamom and cloves.
Leave to steep for at least 2 hours then remove the tea bags/spices. Pour over ice and then add about 2-3 tablespoons of whole milk per glass of tea.
I was really surprised how much I enjoyed this tea! The spices had made it really warming in flavour which is funny since it's iced. It had a silky feel to it from the milk which floated on top of the tea, only mixing as you took a sip. The taste of this tea was so nice and it's hard to describe, but trust me, it's lovely. We occasionally have iced tea in the summer and we'll definitely be having this tea again. There's also a variation that has lime and mint flavourings, which sounds refreshing so I'll have to try that too.
