Hamburger Steaks are simply seasoned burger patties served with mashed potato and onion gravy. I like Mississippi's style, a tasty burger made into a sit-down plate meal with the addition of mash and gravy. What's not to love?
Ingredients:
500g minced beef
1/4 teaspoon garlic granules
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 onions
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon gravy granules
Mix the minced beef with the garlic granules, salt & pepper. Combine really well and split into 6 portions. Form each portion into a patty shape and place in an oiled frying pan to fry.
Fry for a few minutes on each side and then remove from the pan. Keep them warm in the oven while the onions are cooking.
Slice the onions thinly and then fry in the same pan adding the Worcestershire sauce and minced garlic. They smell great!
Make up the gravy with some boiling water and add the onions to it in a jug. Serve the Hamburger Steaks with mashed potatoes and pour the onion gravy liberally over the top.
This was a great meal! JD and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The onion gravy was really tasty with the addition of garlic and the Worcestershire sauce. The patties were solidly meaty and paired beautifully with the creamy mash and slightly salty gravy. A very hearty and comforting way to eat a burger patty. We loved it!
