USA: Idaho - The Idahoan

This sandwich is sold in a sandwich shop called Meltz in Boise, Idaho and it's very much the kind of food I want to try. It was an agonizing situation having meatloaf with mashed potatoes the night before we made this sandwich as we had to leave enough leftovers to make two sandwiches. But we did it!

Ingredients:

4 slices bread

4 slices cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce

leftover meatloaf

leftover mashed potatoes

I microwaved the miraculously saved leftovers for a few minutes to heat them up.

Build up the sandwiches starting with a slice of cheese, then meatloaf, add the sweet chilli sauce on top of that, then add a layer of mashed potato and finish with another slice of cheese.

Transfer to your panini press or fry in a pan, however you make a grilled cheese sandwich usually. Cook until the bread is browned and the cheese has melted.

Slice in half and enjoy!

These sandwiches were as amazing as you might expect. The mashed potato did have a tendency to try and ooze out of the bread but I forgave it's excitement. The sweet chilli sauce went great with the meatloaf and the whole sandwich had a lovely combination of flavours going on. The soft cheese, firm meatloaf and crunchy bread delivered a range of textures too. This sandwich has everything and if you're a fan of meatloaf, I recommend it heartily.
