USA: Colorado - Beau Jo's Pizza

Beau Jo's is a pizza chain in Colorado who sell what they describe as Mountain Pies. Braided crusts made with the addition of honey which you can save until the end of the meal and eat with more honey smothered on them. A whole meal in just one pizza! We're trying a copycat recipe since we can't get to Colorado right now 😀

Ingredients:

3 cups flour

1 cup warm water

1/8 cup oil

1/8 cup honey

2 tablespoons yeast

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Toppings:

Cooked chicken

Jalapenos

Pizza sauce

Mozzarella

Put all the dough ingredients in a bowl and bring them together to form a dough.

Knead for 5 minutes and then leave to rise for 20-30 minutes.

Roll out the dough to an inch or so bigger than the pizza tray.

Fold in the dough edge to form a triangle and then move around the tray folding as you go.

Use a fork to pierce the pizza dough to prevent it rising too much when cooking. Add the sauce, cheese and toppings.

Bake for 15-20 minutes at 200 C.

We all really enjoyed this pizza! The dough was very different from our usual dough, it had a sweetness to it from the honey and it seemed spongier too. The crust kind of did look like mountains with a valley of pizza toppings in the centre. I saved some of my crust for drizzling in honey afterwards and it was really nice. Overall a really nice change in style for our pizza night 😊
