Russia - Chocolate Salami

Chocolate Salami (also known as Chocolate sausage) is a very simple dessert dish that can be made from just a few simple ingredients. It gets its name because of its shape and resemblance to salami when it's sliced.

Ingredients:

10 oz plain cookies
4 oz butter (melted)
2 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 can condensed milk
2 pinches salt

Crush the cookies so you end up with half crumbs and half medium sized chunks. I like to use a rolling pin for this but use whatever method suits you.

Mix together the remaining ingredients. They form a nice thick chocolate paste.

Mix this paste into the cookie crumbs.

Using baking paper, form into a sausage shape. Place in the fridge to set for several hours.

When it's set dust it with icing sugar so that it resembles salami and slice to serve.

This was a great dessert and we all enjoyed it. The kids enjoyed the taste but objected to it being called salami and said it put them off it a bit. not enough to not eat it all though! It was simple to make with easily found ingredients that you keep in your kitchen cupboards. We had ours sliced with some single cream and it was really delicious. The biscuits are still crunchy and the chocolate coating is addictively moorish. Definitely one to try!
