I really like the look of these chorizo bread rolls. Kind of like sausage rolls but better. Chorizo is one of my favourite ingredients so if I can get the bread part right then this recipe could be a winner!
Ingredients:
2.5 cups flour
5 teaspoons yeast
1 tablespoon oil
chouriço sausage
8 tablespoons warm water
1 teaspoon salt
Put the flour, yeast, salt, oil and water in a bowl.
Work into a dough and add more flour or water if needed. Knead for 5 minutes.
Place in an oiled bowl and leave until it has doubled in size (about 30-40 minutes).
Slice the chorizo and cut the dough into 8 pieces.
Form each piece of dough into a rough rectangle. layer chorizo slices down the middle of the dough and fold over. Pinch closed and place on a lined tray.
Leave for another 30 minutes and then bake at 190 C for 25 minutes.
I was right, we loved these! Even Val and Erin tried them and had seconds. The chorizo oil had seeped through the bread as it cooked giving its delicious flavour to every bite. Such a simple recipe but such a tasty one! I can see us having these again probably with some soup to dip them in :)
